Autumn has arrived at Leila Lily’s

Now that the leaves are beginning to fall and rainy days are upon us, it’s safe to say that autumn has fully arrived in Newcastle, and here at Leila Lily’s on the iconic Grey Street, so has our brand new menu! The refreshed autumn menu perfectly encapsulates the comforting flavours of the season, offering a fresh and vibrant take on hearty classics. As we transition into cooler days and crisp evenings, the exceptional team have carefully crafted dishes that bring warmth and indulgence to the table, without losing the creativity and flair the restaurant is known for.

The starters and small plates on the autumn menu are the perfect way to begin your culinary journey. Highlights include the Cheeseburger Spring Roll, an innovative dish that merges familiar, comforting cheeseburger flavours with the crispy texture of a spring roll. The pickle and shallot burger relish adds a tangy kick that elevates this nostalgic bite. Meanwhile, the Korean Beef Bao Bun bursts with flavour, featuring tender beef, sesame seeds, fresh chilli, and coriander, all wrapped in a fluffy bao bun, delivering a deliciously bold fusion of Asian street food with autumnal warmth.

Seafood lovers will be drawn to the Tempura King Prawns, paired with a fiery wasabi dip. The light, crispy batter encases the prawns perfectly, and the wasabi adds just the right level of spice. For something a little more refined, the Smoked Salmon Rosti offers a balanced combination of smoky salmon, pickled shallots, and a bright dill and lemon emulsion, making it a sophisticated start to the meal.

Moving on to the mains, the menu truly embodies the amazing home comforts of autumn. The Beef Marrow Steak Pie is a must-try for anyone seeking comfort food with a gourmet twist. Encased in golden, flaky pastry, the rich beef and marrow filling is pure indulgence, served alongside crispy triple-cooked chips for that extra bit of luxury. For those who prefer a lighter option but still want full-on flavour, the Beer Battered Haddock Fillet is served with the classic trio of chip shop curry, tartare sauce, and mushy peas. It’s a playful nod to traditional British fare, elevated with the highest quality ingredients and care.

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about vegetarians and vegans either! The Butternut Squash and Mushroom Risotto is a beautifully executed dish that embodies the earthy flavours of autumn. The sage and parmesan create a rich, creamy risotto that’s both satisfying and comforting, with the delicate combination of squash and mushroom throughout the dish. Another standout is the Beetroot Falafel Burger, a vibrant and healthy alternative to traditional burgers. Served on toasted vegan flatbread with avocado and a side of seasoned fries, this dish packs flavour while being light and fresh.

For those who want to experience the true centrepiece of the menu, the Mibrasa Fire Grill section offers an array of succulent, chargrilled meats and skewers. Whether you opt for the 8oz Rump Steak, the juicy Lamb Kofta Skewers, or the flavoursome Chorizo & Chicken Skewers, each grill option is served with tomatoes, mushrooms, caramelised onions, and your own choice of sauce. From garlic butter to chimichurri, the sauces are designed to complement and enhance each cut of meat, making this a hearty and satisfying option.

Our new autumn menu offers a true celebration of the season’s best flavours. Whether you’re stopping by for a leisurely three-course dinner, enjoying a couple of small plates with friends, or indulging in the full fire grill experience, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Each dish reflects the changing season, blending comfort and creativity in a way that’s sure to make your next visit to our city centre restaurant memorable.
